The Punjabi government has established the Punjab Ashirwad Scheme to offer financial support for a girl's marriage.

Ashirwad - Introduction

Many members of the economically disadvantaged part of society are unable to plan their daughters’ weddings due to their precarious financial situation.

They also face several related issues.

The Punjab Ashirwad plan has been introduced by the Punjab government with this situation in mind.

Girls from economically disadvantaged families will receive financial aid under this program so that they need not worry about any financial obligations when planning their daughter’s wedding.

The scheme aims not only to help girls but also to encourage families who are raising girls and wish to marry them.

Benefits

  • Financial assistance of ₹51,000/-.

Eligibility

  • The girl should be 18 years old or above.
  • Annual income of the family from all sources should not exceed ₹32,790/-.
  • Parents/Guardians of the girl should be domiciled in Punjab State.
  • The application can be submitted before the fixed date of marriage or within 30 days after the marriage by the applicant to obtain financial assistance.
  • The amount of Ashirwad is limited to two girls per family under the scheme.
  • Financial assistance is provided to Scheduled Caste/Christian girls, Backward Classes/Castes, economically weaker section girls, daughters of widows of any caste at the time of their marriage, and Scheduled Caste widows/divorcees at the time of their remarriage.

Application Process

  1. Applicants have to visit the official portal.
  2. Click on Applicant Registration.
  3. On the new page, the registration form will appear.
  4. Applicants have to provide the required details.
  5. Submit.
