West Bengal Migrant Workers’ Welfare Scheme: Repatriation of Dead Body is a social welfare scheme implemented by the West Bengal Migrant Workers’ Welfare Board, Labour Department, Government of West Bengal on 25th April, 2023. Under this scheme, if any registered Migrant Worker dies in the course of employment outside the State of West Bengal, an assistance of ₹ 25,000/- will be provided to the nominee of the worker for bringing the dead body to his/her permanent address.

Eligibility
For registration as a Migrant Worker:
- The applicant must be a resident of West Bengal.
- The applicant’s age should be between 18-60 years.
- The applicant must be ordinarily a worker who is employed or likely to be employed in any State or Union Territory other than West Bengal or outside India.
For the application of Welfare Scheme:
- The beneficiary should be a nominee, i.e., a person nominated by the registered Migrant Worker from his or her family.
- The migrant worker should have lost his or her life due to death during the course of employment outside the State of West Bengal.
Exclusions
No claim shall be admissible to the applicant in receipt of any other financial assistance of a similar nature from the Government of West Bengal.
Application Process
For Registration:
- Download and install KARMASATHI (PARIJAYEE SHRAMIK ) app on an Android mobile phone from the Google Play Store.
- Choose a language (English, Bengali, Hindi) and tap "NEXT" to proceed.
- Select the "Migrant Worker" option and tap "GO".
- Enter your mobile number / MWIN. For new registration, a migrant worker enters their mobile number to generate an OTP.
- Provide worker information in Basic Details, Address Details, and Employment Details, then tap "CONFIRM SUBMIT".
- A provisional MWIN will be generated and an SMS will be sent to the mobile number.
- To obtain a permanent MWIN, tap the "incomplete application" menu and provide additional information such as bank account details, ration card, and nominee details.
- Upload the mandatory documents and submit to complete the registration process.
For Application:
- Open the KARMASATHI (PARIJAYEE SHRAMIK ) app and log in using OTP.
- To receive welfare assistance, tap the "Services" menu.
- Provide claim details and upload the required documents for the concerned scheme, then submit to complete the application process.
Search Migrant Worker Details: Migrant workers can search their details on the portal by providing their Migrant Worker Identification Number (MWIN), registered mobile number, or Aadhar number. karmasathips.wblabour.gov.in
Renewal of Registration as a Beneficiary: A migrant worker registered as a beneficiary must renew their registration annually through the portal.
Definitions
Migrant Worker means a person of the age between 18 and 60 years who is, by origin, a resident of West Bengal and employed in a remunerated activity in any State or Union Territory in India other than West Bengal.
