Accident compensation scheme for farmers/laborers/mandi workers engaged in agricultural tasks, operated under the Uttarakhand Mandi Act and supervised by Mandi Committees.
Personal Accident Assistance Scheme - Introduction
Under the Uttarakhand State Mandi Act, the Personal Accident Assistance Scheme provides compensation in cases of injury or death caused by accidents occurring during agricultural activities or the use of farm-related equipment. It covers farmers, agricultural laborers, and mandi workers operating in regulated mandi areas.
Covered activities include:
- Use of electric agricultural equipment
- Digging/deepening of wells and ponds for irrigation
- Use of tractors in agriculture
- Threshing and harvesting
- Any accident while performing farming tasks
Compensation is disbursed by Mandi Parishads (Market Committees) under the supervision of the Mandi Board.

Eligibility
- The applicant must be a resident of Uttarakhand.
- The applicant must be at least 18 years of age to be eligible to claim compensation.
- The applicant must be a farmer, agricultural laborer, or mandi worker engaged in farming or in the operation of agricultural equipment within a regulated mandi area.
- The applicant must have suffered an accident related to agricultural activities such as the use of electric tools, irrigation, digging, tractor operation, or similar tasks.
Exclusions
- Accidents not related to agricultural activities
- Incidents occurring outside the jurisdiction of the Mandi Samiti.
Application Process
The accident must be reported to the Mandi Committee/authority within 45 days. The committee will initiate an investigation within 15 days of receiving the intimation. In case of death, testimonies from two relatives or an authority must be attached. The claim form must be verified by the Gram Pradhan or a Panchayat member.

- Accident report from the Mandi Committee
The Mandi Secretary will forward the complete file for approval. After verification, the Chairperson/Administrator sends it for final approval. If approved, a demand draft is issued to the beneficiary via the Mandi Secretary. Approval generally takes 1 month (may be extended under special conditions).
