The scheme aims to promote strawberry cultivation across 20 districts in Bihar. It provides subsidies on seedlings, packaging materials, and equipment to support farmers in enhancing strawberry production.
Mukhyamantri Bagwani Mission: Strawberry Vikas Yojana - Introduction
The “Strawberry Vikas Yojana” a component of the umbrella scheme “Mukhyamantri Bagwani Mission”, launched by the Department of Agriculture, Bihar. The main objective of the scheme is to promote the commercial cultivation of horticultural crops in the state of Bihar. This component focuses on expanding strawberry farming through providing subsidies on seedlings, wooden packaging boxes, and plastic containers.
Benefits
- Financial Assistance: Farmers receive a subsidy of ₹3,36,000/- per hectare to support strawberry farming.
- Subsidized Packaging Materials:
- 40% subsidy on wooden boxes for packaging (₹4.40/- per piece, unit cost ₹11/-).
- 40% subsidy on small plastic boxes (₹1/-per piece, unit cost ₹2.50/-).
- Provision of Quality Seedlings: High-quality strawberry seedlings are provided for cultivation.
Eligibility
- The applicant should be a resident of Bihar.
- The applicant should be a farmer.
- The applicant must belong to any of the following districts: Gopalganj, Jehanabad, Lakhisarai, Saran, Supaul, Aurangabad, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Katihar, Kishanganj, Munger, Muzaffarpur, Nalanda, West Champaran, Patna, East Champaran, Purniyan, Samastipur and Vaishali.
- The applicant must have agricultural land a minimum of 0.25 acres (0.1 ha) and a maximum of 5 acres (2 ha).
- The applicant must be registered on the DBT portal.
Note 1: Beneficiary allocation:
- General Category: 78.56%.
- Scheduled Castes: 20%.
- Scheduled Tribes: 1.44%.
- Women Participation: 30%.
Note 2: The benefits of this scheme can be taken by ryot farmers on the basis of land documents and non-ryot farmers on the basis of contract form.
Note 3: Beneficiaries will be selected on a first come, first serve basis.

Application Process
DBT Registration Process:
- Step-1: Visit the dbtagriculture.bihar.gov.in of the DBT portal.
- Step-2: Select Aadhaar verification type: OTP/ BIO-AUTH/ IRIS.
- Step-3: Enter your Aadhaar number and Name as per Aadhaar. Click on “Authentication”.
- Step-4: Enter the OTP. Click on “Validate OTP”.
- Step-5: Now confirm the details about the “Kisan Credit Card (KCC)” Details. Click on “Farmer Registration”.
- Step-6: In the Registration Page, fill in all the details properly i.e. Farmer details, Land information, Bank account details and click on “Submit”.
- Step-7: Validate with OTP. Click on “Register” to generate the Registration Id.
Note: After 48 hours of registration, farmers can apply for the scheme with the help of 13 digit registration number.
Online Application of the Scheme:
- Step-1: Visit the official horticulture.bihar.gov.in.
- Step-2: Scroll to bottom and confirm the checkbox. Click on “Proceed to apply”.
- Step-3: In the next page select the “Type of Applicant” and enter the “DBT Registration Number of Kisan”. Click on “Get details”.
- Step-4: Fill in the required details i.e. Address, Land Details, etc, and upload documents.
- Step-5: Confirm the checkbox and then click on “Submit”.
- Step-6: An “Application Number” will be generated. Keep this for future reference.
- Step-7: Printout of the filled in application also can be taken using the Print option.
