The scheme aims to expand dragon fruit cultivation in 21 districts of the state, providing financial assistance to ryot farmers for establishing and maintaining dragon fruit plantations.
Mukhyamantri Bagwani Mission: Dragon Fruit Vikas Yojana - Introduction
The “Dragon Fruit Vikas Yojana” is a component of the umbrella scheme “Mukhyamantri Bagwani Mission”, launched by the Department of Agriculture, Bihar. The main objective of the scheme is to promote the commercial cultivation of horticultural crops in the state of Bihar.
This component focuses on increasing the cultivation area of dragon fruit across 21 districts (Bhojpur, Gopalganj, Jehanabad, Saran, Siwan, Supaul, Aurangabad, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Katihar, Kishanganj, Munger, Muzaffarpur, Nalanda, West Champaran, Patna, East Champaran, Purnia, Samastipur and Vaishali) in the state.
Under this scheme, financial assistance is provided to ryot farmers for dragon fruit cultivation.
Benefits
Financial Support:
- First year: ₹1,80,000/- per hectare.
- Second year: ₹60,000/- per hectare.
- Third year: ₹60,000/- per hectare.
Eligibility
- The applicant should be a resident of Bihar.
- The applicant should be a ryot farmer.
- The applicant must be from any of the following districts: Bhojpur, Gopalganj, Jehanabad, Saran, Siwan, Supaul, Aurangabad, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Katihar, Kishanganj, Munger, Muzaffarpur, Nalanda, West Champaran, Patna, East Champaran, Purnia, Samastipur and Vaishali.
- The applicant must have agricultural land a minimum of 0.25 acres (0.1 ha) and a maximum of 10 acres (4 ha).
- The applicant must be registered on the DBT portal.
Note 1: Beneficiary allocation:
- General Category: 78.56%.
- Scheduled Castes: 20%.
- Scheduled Tribes: 1.44%.
- Women Participation: 30%.
Note 2: Beneficiaries will be selected on first come first serve basis.
Application Process
DBT Registration Process:
- Visit the dbtagriculture.bihar.gov.in of the DBT portal.
- Select Aadhaar verification type: OTP / BIO-AUTH / IRIS.
- Enter your Aadhaar number and name as per Aadhaar. Click on “Authentication”.
- Enter the OTP. Click on “Validate OTP”.
- Now confirm the details about the “Kisan Credit Card (KCC)”. Click on “Farmer Registration”.
- In the registration page, fill in all the details properly – farmer details, land information, bank account details – and click on “Submit”.
- Validate with OTP. Click on “Register” to generate the registration ID.
Note: After 48 hours of registration, farmers can apply for the scheme with the help of a 13‑digit registration number.
Online Application of the Scheme:
- Visit the official horticulture.bihar.gov.in.
- Scroll to the bottom and confirm the checkbox. Click on “Proceed to apply”.
- On the next page, select the “Type of Applicant” and enter the “DBT Registration Number of Kisan”. Click on “Get details”.
- Fill in the required details – address, land details, etc. – and upload documents.
- Confirm the checkbox and then click on “Submit”.
- An “Application Number” will be generated. Keep this for future reference.
- The printout of the filled application can also be taken using the Print option.
