Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) by the Department of Women & Child Welfare, Govt. of Sikkim provides financial support to the poor widows of the state of Sikkim. The beneficiary receives a monthly pension of ₹2000/- through DBT.
Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme - Sikkim - Introduction
Launched in the year 2014, the scheme “Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS)” is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme by the Department of Women & Child Welfare, Govt. of Sikkim. Under this scheme, financial support is provided to the poor widows of the state of Sikkim. A widow whose household is below the poverty line is eligible to get the benefits of the pension scheme. The beneficiary receives a monthly pension of ₹ 2000/- and the pension amount consists of the Central and State governments' share.
Eligibility
- The applicant should be a domicile of the state of Sikkim.
- The applicant should be from a Below Poverty Line (BPL) family.
- The applicant should have attained the age of 21 years and above.
- The applicant should not have any source of income, i.e., the applicant should not be a recipient of salary/pension/family pension from the Central Government or other State Governments.
- The applicant should have opened a bank account under “Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana”.
Note 1: If the beneficiary remarries, the pension shall cease to be drawn from the date of her remarriage.
