The scheme "Financial Assistance to Scheduled Tribe (Plains) Students for Coaching for Getting Admission into Medical/Engineering/IIT/etc." was launched by the Directorate of Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes, Government of Assam.
The scheme aims to provide financial support to eligible ST (P) students for coaching to crack competitive entrance examinations for Medical, Engineering, and Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). The scheme offers reimbursement for coaching expenses incurred by students and prioritizes merit-based selection.
To be eligible, the applicant must belong to the ST (P) community and must be undergoing or have completed coaching (within the last one year) for the specified entrance exams.
The scheme is implemented by the Directorate of Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes, Assam, and applications are accepted offline via submission to the Directorate’s office.

Eligibility
- The applicant must belong to the Scheduled Tribe (Plains) community.
- The applicant must be undergoing or have completed coaching (within the last one year) for Medical/Engineering/IIT entrance examinations.
- The applicant must have appeared/passed the 10+2 examination.
Selection is based on merit (percentage secured in the Matriculation Examination).
Application Process
- Step 1: The interested applicant should take a print of the prescribed format of the application form.
- Step 2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, paste the passport-sized photograph (signed across, if required), and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attested, if required).
- Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents, within the prescribed period (if any), to the Director, Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes, Assam, Rukmini Nagar, Guwahati - 781 006.
Applicants are advised to retain a copy of the submitted application and acknowledgment for future reference.
- Step 1: Applications are scrutinized by a Selection Committee.
- Step 2: Beneficiaries are approved based on a merit list (Matriculation Examination percentage).
- Step 3: Selected candidates receive financial assistance as per scheme guidelines.
