This scheme provides subsidies on the distribution of sheep units, milch animals, and calves, as well as health coverage and artificial insemination for the animals. It is targeted at Tribal communities to improve their livelihood through animal husbandry.
The Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme (NAIP), is a flagship program of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying. The objective of the programme is to increase the productivity of livestock by improving the genetic potential through artificial insemination.
The scheme aims to support livestock owners in maintaining and increasing the population of indigenous cattle breeds like Gir and Kankrej.
The scheme “Incentive to Owners of Artificial Insemination Born Female Calf through Pure Breeding in Indigenous Cow” was started by the Department of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare & Co-operation, Government of Gujarat.
