Sanskrit Research Scholarship Scheme - Introduction
The "Sanskrit Research Scholarship Scheme" was launched by the Department of Sanskrit Education, Government of Uttarakhand. It aims to promote advanced academic research in the field of Sanskrit by providing financial assistance to meritorious Ph.D. scholars. Under this scheme, an annual scholarship is provided for up to 3 years to 20 selected Ph.D. students pursuing Sanskrit across state universities. It ensures that deserving candidates from the General, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Economically Weaker Sections receive support to complete their doctoral research.

Financial Assistance: Each selected student receives ₹40,000/- per year for a period of 3 years, totaling up to ₹1,20,000/-.
Total Beneficiaries: 20 research scholars are selected annually.
Eligibility
- The applicant must belong to the General, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Economically Weaker Section.
- The applicant must have appeared in the National Eligibility Test (NET) and obtained high marks.
- The applicant must be registered for a Ph.D. in Sanskrit at any recognized university within the state.
Application Process
- Step 1: The interested applicant should visit (during office hours) the Uttarakhand Sanskrit Academy and request a hard copy of the prescribed format of the application form from the staff exclusively entrusted to issue and collect filled-in applications.
- Step 2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attested, if required).
- Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents to the Uttarakhand Sanskrit Academy.
- Step 1: Applications are reviewed by a selection committee which shortlists eligible candidates based on NET exam scores and category-based reservations.
- Step 2: Selected candidates are informed via official communication and scholarship disbursal begins thereafter.
- Step 1: The scholarship must be renewed each year by reapplying with relevant documents and progress updates.
