The scheme Sikkim Unmarried Women Pension Scheme (SUWPS) was launched in 2013 by the Department of Women & Child Welfare, Govt. of Sikkim. Under this scheme, the unmarried women of Below Poverty Line (BPL) families in Sikkim would receive a pension of ₹ 2000/- per month.
Sikkim Unmarried Women Pension Scheme - Introduction
The Government of Sikkim launched a scheme named Sikkim Unmarried Women Pension Scheme (SUWPS) in 2013 for unmarried women from below poverty line (BPL) families in Sikkim.
Under this scheme, unmarried women from BPL families aged 45-59 years who have no source of income are eligible for a monthly pension of ₹2,000.
This scheme is a 100% State Innovative Scheme, and an unmarried woman must not have been covered by any other existing pension schemes of the State or Central government.
Eligibility
- The applicant should be a permanent resident of the state of Sikkim.
- The applicant should be a woman.
- The applicant should be unmarried.
- The applicant should be from a Below Poverty Line (BPL) family.
- The applicant should be in the 45-59 years age group.
- The applicant should not have any source of income.
