The scheme Uttam Pashu Puraskar Yojana was launched by the Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Himachal Pradesh to provide incentives and encouragement to livestock owners for rearing good quality high-yielding animals.

Uttam Pashu Puraskar Yojana was launched by the Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Himachal Pradesh to provide incentives and encouragement to livestock owners for rearing good quality high-yielding animals.
- Funds will be released to the controlling officers as per physical targets fixed for each district.
- Under the scheme, cattle/buffaloes yielding more than 15 kg per day as peak yield will be recorded.
- Milk recording will be done at the veterinary hospitals/dispensaries of the Animal Husbandry Department.
- Milk recording can be carried out at any time during the lactation period.
- The prize will be admissible to a maximum of two animals per farmer.
- The recording of milk production will be done by a committee consisting of:
- Veterinary officer of the area.
- Veterinary pharmacist/GPVA of the concerned institution area.
- Representative of the local body to be verified by the concerned senior veterinary officer.
- Milk production shall be recorded for four consecutive timings (morning and evening), and an average of three milkings will be counted for the calculation of the peak yield.
- Details of all eligible animals duly verified by the senior veterinary officer will be submitted to the concerned deputy director (AH/B) for distribution of prize money.
- A cash prize of ₹1,000 per cattle/buffalo will be given to animals giving 15 liters or more milk per day. Prizes will be transferred to the bank account of the selected owners.
- Male calves born to these high-yielding dams can be procured and reared at sperm stations.
Benefits
- Livestock owners of cattle/buffaloes giving 15 liters or more milk per day will be awarded a cash prize of ₹1000/- per cow/buffalo.
- The prize will be admissible to a maximum of two animals per farmer.
- Prizes will be transferred to the bank account of the selected owners.
Eligibility
- The beneficiary should be a permanent resident of Himachal Pradesh.
- The beneficiary/livestock owner of cattle/buffaloes giving 15 liters or more milk per day is eligible to apply under the scheme.

- Step 02: Look for the scheme for “Uttam Pashu Puraskar Yojana”.
- Step 03: Read the guidelines and eligibility criteria of the scheme carefully. Further, agree with the terms & conditions and click on ‘Proceed’.
- Step 04: Fill out the application form for the scheme, which is available online at (hpahdbt.hp.gov.in)
- Step 05: Attach all the necessary documents as required for the scheme, such as proof of BPL status, land documents, and bank account details.
- Step 06: For submitting the application form, click on ‘Submit’.
- Step 07: Check the status & follow up with the concerned department to track the status of the application.
